Where you don't have to have a vignette or pay a toll?

There are places where you don’t need to buy a vignette. Slovenia is no exception.

The Gorenjska Highway (A2)

The Gorenjska highway (A2) connects Austria with Slovenia and includes the section from the Austrian border to the Slovenian junction Hrušica and back. Tolls on this route include the Karavanke tunnel fee, which applies to the area between the first motorway junctions on both sides of the border: the Hrušica junction in Slovenia and the Podrožca–Rosenbach junction in Austria.

Coastal Roads H5 and H6

Since 1 January 2026, an e-vignette is no longer required for light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes on the reclassified coastal sections of H5 and H6. A valid vignette is still required on other tolled roads used to reach the coast.

The Maribor Expressway (H2)

The Maribor expressway (H2), which connects Pesnica with Tezno, was removed from the electronic toll system as a result of the category change.
